Rose McGowan’s NSFW Music Video Is Here to Haunt Your Nightmares
Do you remember when Rose McGowan dated Marilyn Manson? Well she did, and right now he's somewhere out there, sitting in front of a computer while sipping on a green smoothie, watching the video for Rose's debut "RM486" single and remembering back when everyone thought of him as the spooky one.
"Proud to unveil the release of my first single - #RM486. I wrote and recorded this song in Paris earlier this year with the amazingly talented Punishment Paris. The video, now available to view on NOWNESS, is what happened next," McGowan wrote on Facebook last night (September 22).
"What you are about to witness is a collaboration between myself and @WHOYOUARE," the actress continued. "Much love to #JonasÅkerlund for his eye and vision.#BÅkerlund for her fashion direction and art. Kim Kimble for the amazing hair. Sammy Mourabit for his insanely great Make-up and prosthetic art. And of course Yoko for the fabulous nails. I just want to put art out into the world. Enjoy."
Enjoy!
Rose provided further context on her own YouTube page (does great art really need to be explained, though?): "All five characters in the video are versions of me. All are pieces that make up my whole - an artist, a public figure, and most importantly, as a person. I’m pushing back at the idea of what I am supposed to be, I want to expose people to art in a real way, and I want to change the idea of what beauty is. There is true power in art and true power in we who believe in it."
One of the versions of Rose Gowan is VERY into false eyelashes.
Jonas Akerland is a highly-regarded music video director, and his many credits include the clips for Beyonce's "Haunted" and Madonna's "Ray of Light." Looking at the visuals above, it may not surprise you that he's behind Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" video as well.
The clip may also remind you of:
- Bjork
- Bjork's husband Matthew Barney
- fka Twigs
- The Svedka vodka lady
- Did we say Gaga already?
- A powerful Mayan goddess of the underworld (see below)
