Ben Stiller’s ‘Reality Bites’ TV Series Set Up At NBC
The internet might literally have exploded over news of Ben Affleck signing up as Batman for the 'Man of Steel' sequel, but it seems another Ben has been keeping busy as well. Ben Stiller's iconic Generation X movie 'Reality Bites' has been delivered to NBC for a potential TV series, with Stiller and original writer Helen Childress set to pen the script, but will the new series stick to the '90s timeline?
Via Deadline, who first broke news of the series, Generation X-ers can rest assured that 'Reality Bites' will keep to the pre-internet '90s where it belongs. The series will follow the cult 1994 movie's plot, in which recent college graduate Lelaina Pierce (Winona Ryder in the film) struggles romantically and professionally while living in Houston and hanging out with her video camera, and “slacker” friends and roommates.
Universal Television will produce the series along with Stiller’s Red Hour Television and Double Feature Films, run by original film producers Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher. Sadly, we doubt the involvement of Winona Ryder, Ethan Hawke, Janeane Garofalo or Steve Zahn, but you never know.
Well, what say you slackers? Would you be interested to see 'Reality Bites' redone as a TV series, or should it remain in the '90s? Sound off in the comments with your thoughts, after the original trailer!
