Grand Junction's Orchard Mesa Cemetery is in need of 1,000 flags for veterans' graves by the 4th of July. A local business has offered to match any flags donated to this cause. Here's how you can participate.

There are currently over 2,500 veterans interred at the Orchard Mesa Cemetery. They have flags for a little better than half of those graves. Flag donations are needed. Specifically, they are looking for flags in the size around 8 1/2 " X 11".

A local business, CORRecycling, Inc., has offered to match each donation. Flags can be dropped off at their location at 739 3rd Avenue in Grand Junction (near the Daily Sentinel). Please drop off your donations between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:30 pm. In order to get a count and make their match, flag donations will need to be received by 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 30.

American Legion Post 200, along with the organizer of the event, SJ Christ, will see that the flags are placed at the graves.
