The investigation is continuing into an officer-involved shooting over the weekend that left one person dead in Grand Junction.

Authorities have not released many details of the shooting that happened Saturday morning near Highway 50 and 29 Road, just south of Chipeta Golf Course.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, it was shortly after 9:00 when a Colorado State Patrol trooper was involved in the shooting that left one suspect dead. The officer was not injured in the incident. In keeping with standard protocol, the trooper has been placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated.

We expect more details to be released including the identity of the deceased suspect, the cause and manner of death, and the name of the trooper involved. This is the second officer-involved shooting in Grand Junction in the last two months.
