New York Has Better Skiing Than Colorado, Says NY Governor Cuomo
When I first read the headline I thought it was going to be a political joke of some sort but no, the New York Governor is attempting to be serious. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is trying to tell New Yorkers that they don't need to travel outside of their state to enjoy skiing as the skiing in New York is just as nice as Colorado according to the Times Union. The big reason Governor Cuomo is making this push is to follow quarantine rules and help try to keep COVID-19 numbers as low as possible.
The New York Governor said that not only can you enjoy the best skiing in the United States but you won't be asked to quarantine for 14 days if residents in his own state just stay home this year instead of making a winter trip to enjoy snow-related activities elsewhere. Currently, any traveler who spends 24 hours in Colorado and then returns to New York must quarantine for a two-week period upon arrival back home.
New York ski resorts have permission to reopen on November 6th. There will be capacity limits, face mask requirements, social distancing, and other safety measures in place.
With the colder weather approaching quickly the COVID-19 numbers are expected to rise as more people will be spending time together in closer proximity.
While we all want to see COVID-19 numbers decrease so we can get back to what life was like before this whole pandemic, one thing is certain, New York doesn't have better skiing than Colorado.
