New Salon Opens Tomorrow on North Avenue

There's a new salon opening at 5th and North Avenue. Actually, it's a long-standing Grand Junction business making the move to a new location. Please stop by and make them welcome.

Images Salon, owned and operated by Connie Hale, will reopen at 525 North Avenue. Opening day is tomorrow, April 30.

For the last 14 years, Images has operated at 598 N. Commercial Drive. After 14 years, Connie chose to sell the commercial building and relocate on North Avenue.

Connie has been a stylist in Grand Junction since the 1980s. I first met her at Harrah's Hair Company back in 1990. Shortly after that she pursued an independent venture and opened a salon on 12th street.

I'm a huge fan of independently owned small businesses in Grand Junction. Images Salon has been a strong supporter of the community for as long as I can remember. I could always count on Images Salon to participate in fundraisers and silent auctions benefiting Western Colorado non-profits.

If you go way back, the location at 525 North Avenue was once a very popular bar. We used to do live remotes there every Friday night. We were there so frequently management decided it would be beneficial to install a permanent antenna for our Marti (the remote transmitter radio stations use when on location).

When the bar closed, the management of the station sent me on a top-secret, James Bond mission. I went to the vacant bar with a ladder, a pair of wire cutters, and a pair of pliers, with the objective of climbing up on the roof and taking back our antennae. I'm pleased to report the mission was successful.

The new location at 525 North Avenue is excellent. It's a convenient location with ample parking. For those utilizing Grand Junction's public transportation, there's a bus stop directly in front of the salon.
