New Law in Colorado Bans Animal Abusers From Owning Pets
A new law in Colorado bans animal abusers from owning pets. The law was just passed on Wednesday (May 1). With this law animal abusers are banned from owning, possessing or caring for an animal for three to five years, according to CBS4.
Along with the ban, animal abusers can also be sentenced to an anger management program or other mental health treatment. According to CBS4, Gov. Jared Polis said this about the new law:
It will increase restricitons of people convicted of felony pet animal cruelty, and facilitate mental health and treatments to address the underlying factors that drive tragic animal cruelty.
Animals give us nothing but their loyalty and love and they deserve the same in return. I think that people who abuse their pets don't deserve to have any pets. There are so many pets that are in need of good homes for this very reason.
I hope to see fewer animals being abused and more animals getting what they deserve -- lots of cuddles, treats, and toys.
