I just watched the sentencing hearing of Christopher Watts for the murders of his 34-year-old pregnant wife Shanann, and daughters, Bella, four, and Celeste, three. Shanann had planned to name her baby boy Nico.

My heart broke watching the families of both Shanann and Christopher as they struggle with the horror that happened the night that their son-in-law, son, brother-in-law could do such an evil act.

Frank Rzucek, Shanann's father addressed the court first with a powerful message to Christopher letting him know that he is an "evil monster." Rzucek stated; "You carried them out of the house like trash. You buried my daughter Shanann and Nico in a shallow grave and then you put Bella and CeCe in containers of crude oil."

Preceding Rzucek was Shanann's brother, mother and then Christopher's parents. Each one poured out their heart and shared their devastation that had everyone watching in tears.

Watt's parents echoed the sentiments of Shanann's family but told their son that they forgive him as God forgives and that they still love him.

As a mother of four children, I just cried. I can't imagine going through anything as monstrous as this. Absolutely devasting.

Christopher Watts sat there handcuffed, shaking his legs continuously, with tears streaming down his face after hearing his mother speak.

Earlier this month, Chris Watts agreed to a plea deal that would grant him life in prison rather than the death penalty.

Shanann's family felt that it wasn't their right to ask for his life to be taken by them like he took his family from them.

Christopher Watts has been sentenced to three life terms without parole in the Colorado Department of Corrections. Watts sentence also included an additional 84 years for an unlawful termination of a pregnancy for their unborn son that Shanann named Nico, in addition to three counts of tampering with a deceased human body.

So, so sad. A heartless act just so he could get what he wanted.
