Colorado Makes Top 10 List For Growth in 2021
The year 2021 saw Americans packing up and making one-way moving trips to new destinations, including Colorado.
According to a press release by UHaul, Colorado is one of the top 10 states in the United States that saw growth in the year 2021.
Taking A Look at the Statistics in Colorado
Typically people don't like to be referred to as "just another statistic," but in this case, it really isn't such a bad thing.
Colorado ranked as number 7 on the top 10 list of growth states in America, according to 2021 transactional data compiled for the annual U-Haul Growth Index.
Personally, I made the one-way move from Texas to Colorado at the end of 2021, and I'm happy to see that I wasn't alone in looking for more in the Centennial State.
Colorado in the Year 2020
The year prior, Colorado actually ranked as number 6 on the top 10 list of growth states in America.
U-Haul calculates the growth of a state by looking at the "net gain of one-way U-Haul trucks entering a state versus leaving that state in a calendar year."
Why Are People Moving to Colorado?
If you're wondering why people are moving to Colorado, the real question is "why not?"
I found myself drawn to Colorado after my very first visit. The differences between Texas and Colorado are like day and night, and I was anxious for a change of scenery.
Everything from the weather, culture, and politics is completely different than that of Texas.
“People are moving to Colorado,” said Adam Walker, U-Haul Company of North Western Colorado president. “The outdoor life is very appealing. With the pandemic, individuals are seeking nature and being outdoors versus indoors. Additionally, the locals are very friendly and it feels welcoming.”
Exactly Where In Colorado Are They Moving?
If you haven't seen much of a difference in the past few years, you may not be in a place where transplants have relocated to.
The top growth cities in Colorado include Fort Collins, Denver, and Colorado Springs. However, some other popular locations for those moving to the state include Pueblo, Durango, Pagosa Springs, Silverthorne, Montrose, and Boulder.
What State was Number 1?
Ironically enough, the state that took the top spot for growth in the United States for 2021 is Texas.
Of course, since Texas is my home state, I can understand what has drawn people in, but to be honest, I'm more than happy with my decision to move here to Colorado!
