As an avid snowboarder, one of my bucket list mountains to ride was Telluride. I recently checked it off my list with a recent stay at the Mountain Lodge Telluride. Not only was Telluride worth the trip, but my stay at the Mountain Lodge Telluride was also a stellar experience.

Why You Should Choose Telluride Over Other Mountain Towns in Colorado

Firstly, it's a world-class mountain. While I was there, the snow was perfect. If you didn't enjoy the snow, you really don't like to ski or ride.

Secondly, the lift lines were short and sweet. We didn't wait longer than a minute or so to jump on a lift to hit the next run. You can't say that about the majority of the more "ritzy" ski resorts in Colorado.

Getting to Telluride and the Mountain Lodge Telluride

The trip to Mountain Lodge Telluride was more enjoyable than any trip along I-70. You won't have to deal with massive amounts of traffic trying to get to the ritzy resorts along the interstate. The views of some of Colorado's best snow-capped mountains will keep you satiated and excited to get to the resort.

If you're flying into Colorado, you can skip the overly-packed Denver airport and fly into Grand Junction or Montrose and make the trip to Telluride at about the same time you'd make it to an I-70 corridor ski resort.

Check-in is a piece-of-cake. The friendly staff at Mountain Lodge Telluride takes great care to make sure their guests have all they need. You're greeted with a smile, and treated like you've been there a hundred times. Plus, they park your car for you. After you unload all your gear into your room, just drop off your keys and they'll take care of the rest.

If you're like me and forget something in your car, they'll go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. They really do treat you like family and it doesn’t feel at all like your typical corporate-run hotel. The Lodge is independently owned and operated and this creates a more fun and unique experience for the guests.

One of the best amenities that the Mountain Lodge offers is its free self-service ski valet room. Drop your skis or snowboard off at the outside ski valet and pick them up before you head out. You can also put your boots on the boot dryers to keep them fresh for your next trip out

More Benefits of the Mountain Lodge Telluride

One of the best benefits of Mountain Lodge Telluride is its ski-in/ski-out location. With access to two different runs, all you need to do is strap in and hit the slopes. Once your day is done, slide on down the mountain and head back to your room.

You'll probably need to refuel midway through your day and after you're done. The View, Mountain Lodge Telluride's amazing restaurant, offers some delicious food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I know this was a well-deserved treat coming in off the slopes.

Not only is the food amazing, but the View will also welcome you with stunning views of the surrounding mountains in a warm and comfortable atmosphere. May I suggest chilling (or warming up) by the fireplace in its little lounge area?

While we're on the topic of après-ski, soak your tired muscles in the heated pool or hot tub. You'll get to enjoy the starry sky over Telluride in almost absolute silence.

We Can't Forget About the Amazing Rooms at Mountain Lodge Telluride

During my stay, I was in a queen lodge room that was all we needed to relax before and after skiing.

However, if you're looking for a bit more room with the family, the Mountain Lodge's suites and condos are amazing. They'll sleep about four people, but you can add an adjoining queen room for extra space. They offer a kitchen, living area, outdoor balcony, fireplace, and stellar views of the surrounding mountains.

If you need a bit more space, the Mountain Lodge also offers private cabins. It's like a home away from home. Grab the whole family, some friends, and your pet to spend more time sliding or riding the mountain. You'll have a super-cozy cabin to come back to.

Even More, Reasons to Stay at Mountain Lodge Telluride

The Mountain Lodge is in the perfect location. You're just minutes away from the free gondola that will take you down to Telluride's Mountain Village -- you can take a couple of minutes' walk, or take the Mountain Lodge's free shuttle to the gondola. We spent some time wandering around the village going into all the ski shops, grabbing some coffee, and looking for a place to eat. We decided to eat at the View, but there were some great choices in the Village.

From the Village, you can either take the gondola back to Mountain Lodge or take the other free gondola to Telluride proper. We mistakenly jumped on that gondola, but the ride was well worth the views and a quick jaunt to the town.

I know for sure the next time I want to ski a big mountain in Colorado, I'm going to hit up Telluride again. The mountain was amazing, with so much terrain to explore. I also know that I'll stay at the Mountain Lodge Telluride while I'm there. I think I became part of their little family.
