Before you know it Grand Junction area school kids will be heading back to school. Unfortunately, some won't have the school supplies they need. The 2019 Stuff the Bus donation drive is underway, and these are the items needed most.

For several years, this station has teamed up with local businesses to ensure local kids have the essentials when they head back to school. What's needed most are some very basic items.

There will be several drives set up around the valley over the next month. The next is coming up tomorrow (Saturday, July 20) at the Rimrock Walmart. Zane, JT, and Waylon will be there from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. taking your school supply donations. Simply look for the yellow school bus. There will be a handful of hairballs hanging around the bus. That's us! Please drop off your donations.

Here's a list of requested items from the school district:

  • #2 Pencils
  • Colored Pencils
  • Markers
  • Crayons
  • Composition Notebooks
  • Spiral Notebooks College Ruled or Wide Ruled
  • Notebook Paper
  • Graph Paper
  • Glue Sticks
  • Scissors
  • Rulers
  • Pocket Folders
  • 3 Ring Binders
  • Erasers

To my eyes, this looks like a good old fashioned list of school supplies. If this were 1975, back when I started school, the list would probably include Big Chief Notebooks.

The next time you are out and about to do a little shopping, please pick up a few of these items. They can be dropped off at one of our upcoming donation events. At any time, you'll find a school bus inside the Mesa Mall. Please drop your donations right through the window.

Please keep in mind, ALL donations stay 100% local. This is for the students right here in the Grand Valley. Please help us Stuff the Buss before the kids go back to school.
