The out of the box thinking that was done at the Montrose County School District is fantastic. As we heard from KKCO for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year families that are in need of school supplies will get what they need at no cost. District organizers know and understand how detrimental the COVID-19 pandemic was to families in their community and to help they want to use some of the Emergency Relief Fund to offset the cost of those supplies.

The funding for this came from a federal grant that was part of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund. And as you would expect this is very welcomed news for those in the school district.

How Will Funds Be Spent For The Supplies That is From the Emergency Relief Fund?

Throughout the summertime, the school district will be purchasing large amounts of supplies and all of those items will be distributed to students and families when kids come back to school in the fall. The district plans to release more information before school begins in August regarding the school supplies assistance program. And we will share that information once it is released.

School District Officials Hope The Free School Supplies Help Struggling Families

Especially since I have friends and family members who are teachers and it's nice to think that teachers won't have to dig into their own pockets to have supplies this year for their own classroom.
