A re-branding effort is in store for a local non-profit organization.

Officials with Mesa Developmental Services (MDS) have decided to change its name to STRIVE.

Officials say STRIVE is not an abbreviation, but more of a goal to improve services and bring dignity to those they serve.

According to vice president Joe Warner, the name Mesa Developmental Services has often created more confusion within the community than anything else. Officials hope the name change will clarify what the company is all about, including a different direction and new energy.

The organization serves children and adults with developmental delays and disabilities. STRIVE currently serves 780 children and adults from five program sites and 15 group homes throughout the community.
