An investigation has lead to a huge drug sting in Mesa County leading to the indictment of more that 30 individuals on possible drug charges.

According to reports, Francisco Peralta-Cabral of Meeker is being held on a $1 million dollar bond at the Mesa County Jail. Peralta-Cabral, the alleged kingpin is being charged with the following:

  • Two counts of racketeering in violation of Colorado’s Organized Crime Control Act
  • Two counts of possession with intent to distribute more than 1 kilogram of a controlled substance
  • Distribution of a controlled substance and two counts of conspiracy.

Authorities monititored the accused crimes by using court-authorized wiretaps, pole camera and police informants.

Code words were used during the drug transactions:

Salsa: methamphetamine
Girls: methamphetamine
Soda: cocaine
Half notebook: one half pound of methamphetamine
Chicken: one pound of methamphetamine or one pound of cocaine
Horses: kilograms of cocaine

The drugs were believed to come in from Mexico and the were distributed to multiple suspects who broke down the bigger packages to sell on the streets.

This drug bust is believed to be the largest in Mesa County since 2006.
