Kanye West’s Donda’s House Foundation Pleads for Support Despite Rapper’s Pro-Trump Comments
In a statement issued on Saturday (May 26), the foundation said that while they do not speak for the rapper and his views, they will speak up for the youth of Chicago. "We ask that those who feel hurt, angered by or frustrated with Kanye West not penalize or throw away their support, respect and advocacy for us," the statement read.
Donda's House understands that many people are now boycotting West following his pro-Trump comments, but the foundation doesn't want people to forget that they are a non-profit organization. "...We are a non-profit organization that like other non-profits needs donations, corporate support and volunteers," the statement continued. "We do not want your rejection of Kanye West, to be a rejection of Dr. Donda West and the thousands of lives she impacted including her own son."
The foundation has been planning to convert the rapper's childhood home into a recording studio, museum and learning space, but has not received the "financial support" from West that they were supposed to get.
"We have been unable to secure the financial support of Kanye despite multiple attempts, and despite those early conversations about his plan of support and advocacy for the youth in our programs," the foundation stated. "The youth are watching, and we want them to know that despite whatever their favorite celebrities are doing, or not doing, we are here for them and we will continue to serve and uplift them."
The organization wasn't the only one with harsh words for Kanye. Rapper Rhymefest, who has worked with 'Ye in the past, tweeted that he spoke to Kanye about helping his hometown but the rapper allegedly told him, "F--- the youth of Chicago."
