‘Jane the Virgin,’ ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ Coming to an End on The CW
Jane the Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will end after a final season on The CW.
Network president Mark Pedowitz confirmed as much in a statement Thursday ahead of The CW upfront in New York, according to The New York Times.
Jane the Virgin, starring Gina Rodriguez, will come to a close after Season 5. Rodriguez, who plays Jane Villanueva, had hinted at the show's end in March, calling its upcoming season "our final season."
Series creator Jennie Snyder Urman told the Times she will direct two episodes in Season 5, including the premiere, and executive producer Brad Silbering will be at the helm for the series finale.
"It's the ending I pitched when I pitched the show," Urman said of the ending. "It's about how to balance all of these things -- how to be a mother and a daughter and a writer and a lover, all of that together."
"I have some specific magical realism moments I want to see that we've been saving up," she added. "I ultimately want to see her dreams within reach, and I want her to have some of the success that she has fought so hard for."
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, starring Rachel Bloom as Rebecca Bunch, confirmed on Twitter it will end after Season 4.
"The final season of #CrazyExGirlfriend is coming Fridays this fall to The CW," the post reads.
The CW also announced iZombie will end after Season 5. The series is based on the Chris Roberson comic book series of the same name, and stars Rose McIver, Malcolm Goodwin and Rahul Kohli.
