13-Year-Old Girl Shot in Colorado
The incident took place in July of 2025 near the Pueblo Riverwalk in Pueblo, Colorado. While a motive isn’t outwardly apparent, it was reported at the time of the crime that 18-year-old Romello Hernandez shot 13-year-old Diamond Sanchez in the head.

While the incident left Sanchez with life-threatening injuries, luckily, the girl survived the ordeal and is doing well now.
Hernandez pleaded guilty to attempted murder back in December of 2025 and awaited his sentencing behind bars.
Pueblo, Colorado Shooter Sentenced to Prison
After Hernandez pleaded guilty to attempted murder in December in exchange for unspecified other charges to be dropped, a few different fates awaited him.
Due to his age, the courts were given the option to sentence the shooter to one to six years in the Youth Offender System at the Colorado Department of Corrections, but this option was not looked kindly upon by supporters of the girl who rallied together to demand the judge give Hernandez a harsher sentence that better fit the crime.
Ultimately, it was decided that Hernandez would be sentenced to serve 22 years in the Department of Corrections, meaning that he would be close to 40 years old by the time he was released.

The girl’s family, as well as the victim herself, were reportedly satisfied with the judge’s decision to impose the harsher sentence.
