The book, Bernard Aaronson and Humphry Osmond's "Psychedelics," covers subject matter that was much more taboo in the 1980's, and was returned with a lighthearted note saying the following:

While it's rather terrifying to ponder exactly what kind of late fees had been racked up over the 36-year period in which the book was checked out, the library responded in an equally lighthearted way.

Colorado Library Issues Challenge Following Late Book Return

Luckily for the individual who returned "Psychedelics" decades late, the Riverside Library and Cultural Center poked fun at the situation, posting the following message and subsequent challenge on Facebook:

Naturally, the library isn't looking for someone to accept the challenge of checking out a book today and sitting on it for 36 or more years, but it's nice to see that the Riverside Library and Cultural Center was able to add a touch of humor to the situation.
