One Major Colorado City to Vote on Marijuana Ban

Of course, the biggest is probably the Rocky Mountains, which many of our most well renowned activities stem from.

People love to come here for skiing, but the mountains also offer some of the best hikes and National Parks in the entire country as well.

However, whether we like it or not, since we were the first state to legalize recreational marijuana, we will always be known to other states as the weed place.

Even though Denver has lost its crown as the top weed destination in the country and 23 other states have legalized recreational marijuana, it just seems like that title will not shake us.

With that being said, there is one city in Colorado that will be voting about the future of recreational marijuana from this point on.

Colorado Springs to Vote on Their Recreational Marijuana Ban

Colorado Springs is in an interesting place, since the smoking of recreational marijuana is still allowed.

However, it has been a rule for a while that you are not allowed to sell it within city limits. 

Instead people who want to smoke in the Springs need to go to nearby towns to get their weed.

Your best bet if you’re in Colorado Springs and want to get some cannabis is to go to places like Manitou Springs.

Things could be changing soon, though.

Recently, the Colorado Springs City Council put a vote to make a Charter amendment that allowed for the sale of recreational marijuana in the city.

In a 7-2 decision, the City Council voted in favor of adding it to the ballot for voters to decide in November.

What Will the New Rules Be?

If people decide to vote yes to the legalization of recreational marijuana sales in Colorado Springs, there are a couple of different rules that need to be observed. 

In this ordinance, places that sell recreational marijuana would not be allowed to sell within a mile of schools or residential child care facilities.

They also would not be able to operate within a mile of any sort of drug or alcohol rehabilitation and treatment facilities either.
