Expert Predicts Colorado College Football Bowl Games
Coming up shortly, we are about to be treated to one of the best times of the year; college football season.
College football is by far one of the cornerstone sports in America. Compared to the NFL, there’s so much pageantry, excitement, and drama surrounding each season that makes the sport great.
Colorado is home to three teams that are in Division I FBS, the highest level of play: the Air Force Falcons, Colorado State Rams, and Colorado Buffaloes.
Out of all these teams, the most hyped up one is by far the Buffaloes. In fact, they were given one of the highest ratings in the new game EA Sports College Football 25.
With each new year comes predictions on how it will go for each team. Currently, we have people already predicting whether each of Colorado’s teams will make the postseason this year, including experts like Brad Crawford at 247Sports.
Let’s go through his selections to see if any Colorado teams are slated to make any bowl games.
Air Force Falcons Predicted to Make the Armed Forces Bowl
Some may not believe it, but Air Force has quietly become one of the most consistent Group of Five squads in the sport.
As noted by the Denver Post, Air Force has made bowl games in its last three seasons, winning all of them.
After a red hot start that saw them win their first 8 games of the season and get ranked as high as 19th in the country, Air Force would then lose their last 4 regular season games last season.
However, they rebounded and won the Armed Forces Bowl against James Madison to finish strong at 9-4.
In Crawford’s estimation, the Falcons are set up to play in the Armed Forces Bowl for a third year in a row, this time taking on the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Colorado State Rams Predicted to Make the Arizona Bowl
While last season for the Rams was pretty strange and ended in them missing their shot to make a bowl game, CSU is looking to be coming into the 2024 season improved.
Many key contributors are returning this year. Quarterback Braydon Fowler-Nicolosi and certified superstar wide receiver Tory Horton, both turned down lucrative NIL deals to stay with the Rams.
Despite finishing with a 5-7 record last year, the Rams showed a lot of improvement throughout the season.
CSU certainly has a believer in Crawford, who has them playing in the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl against Central Michigan this season.
If they make a bowl game this year, it would end a seven-year drought.
Colorado Buffaloes Not Picked For Bowl Game
Finally, the Colorado Buffaloes, quite possibly one of the most hyped teams in all of college football, were left out of Crawford’s predictions.
Last year for the Buffs was equal parts a step in the right direction and a disaster.
The positives were they got off to a surprisingly hot start, ranking as highly as 18th in the country.
However, Colorado would then go on to lose 8 of their last 9 games to finish 4-8, including an absolutely brutal 43-46 overtime loss at home to Stanford, a team who struggled to 3 wins last year.
One could say last year was an improvement to a 1 win 2022 team, though.
Their stars are also brilliant. Shedeur Sanders is a great quarterback, and Travis Hunter is one of the most dynamic players the sport has ever seen. They also had a big year in the transfer portal.
With all of this being said, while many analysts are predicting the Buffaloes to be shut out of postseason play this year, you never know with the talent they have on their roster.
