Goodbye Redbox: Colorado Communities Say Farewell To DVD Kiosks
Remember when the weekends in Colorado included a trip to the local Blockbuster Video store to rent your favorite movie? From VHS to DVD, Blockbuster grew to more than 8000 stores from the late 80s until they stopped operating in 2013.

Fast forward to 2024 and we are saying goodbye to another company that made it big in the movie rental business and that's Redbox. With 24,900 locations/kiosks Nationwide, those who have not made the switch to digital versions of their favorite films will soon have one less option.
The End of an Entertainment Era
The parent company of Redbox, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, has announced Chapter 7 liquidation according to NBC, which will result in the closure of all movie rental kiosks and the laying off of all employees. Redbox reported its debt at more than $325 million in 2022, unable to recover as the world continues to go with streaming options online as its main source for movie entertainment.
Western Colorado RedBox Locations
Some of Western Colorado's Redbox kiosks have already been turned off in some locations, and others will soon follow. The Redbox locations that will soon disappear from Grand Junction, Fruita, Delta, and Montrose will include:
