
Which Popular Stores In Colorado are Open—Or Closed—On Independence Day?
America will celebrate its 249th birthday on July 4th, 2025. It will be the first time that the 4th has fallen on a weekend in a few years, and states like Colorado are hoping for great weather and some memorable fireworks.
A holiday weekend means that some popular stores may be closed or offer reduced hours during Independence Day Weekend. Keep scrolling to see which chains will be giving employees the weekend off, and which stores you can visit for last-minute needs.
Colorado Chains Closed on the 4th of July
There's nothing like the frustration of forgetting BBQ essentials, fireworks essentials, or something you need to travel, only to find out too late that the stores are closed. While the 4th of July is a little different than Easter Sunday, it's a good idea to know who is going to be closed.
In Colorado, all Costco stores will be closed on Friday, July 4th. FedEx, UPS, and USPS will also be closed on Independence Day.

Colorado Chains Open on the 4th of July
In Colorado, King Soopers, Whole Foods, and ALDI will all be open. Some locations may be on a special holiday schedule with limited hours. While most Safeway grocery stores are open in Colorado, the Grand Junction stores on Patterson and Horizon Drive are not expected to be open due to an ongoing strike.
Sam's Club, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Dollar General, and Lowe's will also be open on Independence Day.

Colorado Malls and Hot Spots
Regional hotspots that will be open on the 4th of July include Mesa Mall in Grand Junction (Cabela's), Colorado Mills Mall (Lakewood), and the Denver Pavilions (16th Street Mall).
