If you were to get a room of 50 Coloradans and asked them their thoughts on roundabouts, you'd probably get a majority saying, "no thanks." Northern Colorado will be seeing a new one by summer of 2025.

They do seem to be everywhere these days, those roundabouts that you have to maneuver to get where you're going. The reasoning is that they make for better traffic flow, but boy, do a lot of people hate them.

This one is going to cost a fair amount, as well.

New Roundabout Slated for Northern Colorado Intersection

It seems like if you just mention a new roundabout coming, people want to throw trash at you; that's how much disdain Coloradans have for them. Yet, the state, and localities, keep installing them; there's no escaping them.

On my way to work from Downtown Loveland to Downtown Windsor, I encounter seven roundabout; if I were to change my route a bit, I could make it eight; I prefer not to.

Sure, you get used to dealing with them, but then there are people who don't know how to execute a roundabout, and it can drive you crazy: "Why are you stopping?" I say out loud, more often than not.

Weld County Getting New Roundabout on Colorado Boulevard

According to 9News, there will be a new roundabout by the summer of 2025 where Weld County Road 6 and Weld County Road 13 intersect.

Weld County Road 13 is better knows as Colorado Boulevard, a route that many people take instead of traveling on I-25 to go north/south. 9News reports that over 7,300 vehicles pass through that intersection, every day.

The cost of the roundabout will run over $13 million, with many commenting that the money could be put to better use:

These do not work in the USA, they rely on people being polite and respectful of others to allow lane changes and the USA drivers are too entitled and in a big hurry to drive a roundabout properly.

Investing in this barely traveled intersection while people crash daily at I-25 and Co. Hwy 119. Fix the intersections that see the most crashes before fixing Weld Rural roads!

People do NOT understand how to drive in these. It's as if they've never seen a YIELD sign in their lives. YIELD to the traffic that's in the circle. Quit pulling out in front of folks or stopping in the circle to wave people through.
