Farmer’s Almanac to Colorado: Get Ready For a Snowy Winter

Much like your ex-significant other, this winter the Farmer's Almanac is predicting heavy mood swings... err... swings in weather conditions throughout the colder months here in Colorado.

They released their annual 2026-2027 winter forecast as they have done for centuries, and here's the line that stands out for Colorado: "Cold, snowy at times, breezy."

Well, duh! That's pretty much every day through our winter, especially when someone leaves the door open to Wyoming, with regard to the wind.

It is an El Nino year, and that does have an impact on the winter weather we will see across the country, while our desert states and Southern California expect far more rain than a typical winter for that part of the country.

While the Farmer's Almanac has been making these predictions for hundreds of years, their accuracy have been brought into question at times when referring to specific months or dates. But they are based on historical data, and for the most part, when you take a look at the complete picture, they're more often right than wrong, even if only by a slim margin.

So this winter we can expect some serious snow, at least a few times. While the Northeastern portion of the United States looks to be the hardest hit, with the midwest through New England seeing those big, wet, heavy snowstorms.

If nothing else, compared to how dry last winter was... you can bet our own high country - in particular the ski resorts - are happy about their prediction and already counting down the days.
