These weight loss drugs have been a miracle for those who struggle with weight Type 2 diabetes and other health conditions. However, these weight loss drugs might be more difficult to have access to.
Insurance Coverage for GLP-1 Medications
Newsweek reports that Colorado will make major cuts on spending for these medications. This directly affects state employees.

The goal for the state of Colorado is to save $17 million in 2025. The budget cuts for weight loss medications will begin in July.
Newsweek says that this will affect 40,000 workers in our state.
Basically, the state of Colorado will not help cover this expense for those who are using or plan on using GLP-1s.

Newsweek specifically points out Ozempic and Wegovy. If you are a state employee using these medications you will likely have to start paying out of pocket beginning in July.

Without insurance, Single Care states that the cost of these injections is over $1,300 a month if your insurance can not handle it.
Hopefully, relief of some kind can come to state workers in Colorado to figure out a game plan so they can continue their journey to feeling like their best selves.
