Football is in full swing, and this might be the craziest weekend of them all at CSU. This weekend is Homecoming and family weekend.

If you make it to Old Town Fort Collins this weekend, it's a whole different vibe. People are happy, families are reuniting, and the tailgating is on point.

The game is on Saturday, October 3rd. Kickoff is at 4:00, but people can tailgate before the game starts. But there are some rules for you rowdy fans.

Tailgating Rules at CSU

  • You have to be 21 to drink, which I'm sure you already knew. Keep your ID on hand in case you get checked. And don't let it bother you if you do. I haven't been carded in 20 years, so if I were, I would cry with joy. But that won't happen.
  • Beer and wine are allowed, but no hard stuff like vodka or tequila. This isn't Christmas at your mom and stepdad's house.
  • You have to keep alcohol in a designated area; sometimes drunk people wander off. Think of it as like a daycare for drunk people.
  • Propane grills are allowed, but charcoal and campfires are not. If you begin setting up a camping-style fire in the middle of the CSU parking lot, I will stop and watch, but only until the cops come and drag your drunk and slightly crisp self away.
  • No pot...
  • Turn that damn music down. That's what you'll hear if you play it too loud at the tailgate. Congratulations, you listen to U2. We get it.
  • Dogs are allowed but must be leashed. If your dog gets jumpy, you should probably keep them at home because it will be very overstimulating.

So pack up your cooler and head down to the CSU vs. Oregon State game this weekend, and please be safe. I love you.
