Whether you're planning a date or a family outing, a trip to the sunflower patch is always a great idea!

Now that we're getting even further into the summer months it's time to plan out a trip to a local farm and pick up some of these gorgeous flowers.

I don't know about you, but sunflowers always seem to brighten my day. Even if you don't plan on bringing home any of these blooms, you're going to want to find a nearby sunflower field or farm to take some fantastic photos.

So, I put together a list of some of the most popular sunflower farms and fields in Northern Colorado for you to add to your summer bucket list!

Colorado Sunflower Farms and Fields That You Need to Check Out This Summer

Bee Hugger Farm (Longmont, CO)

  • Location: 12590 Ute Hwy, Longmont, CO 80504

  • Experience: Not only can you pick flowers at one of Colorado's original sunflower fields, but you can meet the 44 animals that call Bee Hugger home. Visitors can purchase animal feed and interact with their horses, foals, peacocks, chickens, and goats.

  • Peak Bloom: July through October

  • Admission: The Bee Hugger operates on an honor system for their U-Pick sunflower fields. Customers can pay on a donation basis with Venmo or cash at the VW bus.

Anderson Farms (Erie, CO)

  • Location: 6728 County Road 3¼, Erie, CO

  • Experience: This 15 acre U-Pick farm offers fifty different varieties of sunflowers for you to pick from. They also offer an  All-You-Can-Fill Cup or French Market Bucket for customers.

  • Peak Bloom: This sunflower experience starts up on August 2nd and runs through the 24th.

  • Admission: Children under the age of three can get in for free! However, admission is generally $12 to $10 per person. You can look at tickets and times here!

Gather Mountain Blooms (Venetucci Farm, Colorado Springs, CO)

  • Location: 5210 S. Highway 85, Colorado Springs, CO

  • Experience: This farm offers Sunflower Days as a celebration of summer and the gorgeous blooms in Colorado Springs.

  • Peak Bloom: Gather Mountain Blooms has two set days put aside for people to come check out their sunflowers. Sunflower days are scheduled for Saturday August 23rd and 30th from 8:00 AM to noon.

  • Admission: Admission is $10 a person and there's an additional fee if you'd like to pick some flowers to bring home. You can check out ticket information here

Adams County Sunflower Field (Brighton, CO)

  • Location: Public open land near the Riverdale Regional Animal Shelter (Brighton, CO).

  • Experience: This is actually a county-sponsored sunflower field. It was planted on public property so photographers and families could enjoy some gorgeous flowers without trespassing. During the 2023-2024 season, officials from Adams County collaborated with CSU Extension to grow these sunflowers as a free public photo field, according to a report from Denver 7.

  • Admission: Free, open to all. 

Sunflower Farm (Longmont, CO)

  • Location: Rural Longmont (educational demonstration farm in Boulder County).

  • Experience: This is a non-profit educational farm that hosts Farmfest events all throughout the summer! There are plenty of farm animals, music and activities for the whole family to do together!

  • Peak Bloom: Farmfest runs from June to late August, and it's not just specific to sunflowers. You can check out all of the dates and times here.

  • Admission: Reservations are required for this experience and pets are not allowed. It costs $18 per person for admission and children under 12 months of age can get in for free!
