When I think of the state of Colorado, I lean toward green chile and breakfast burritos as the state's most well-known foods. Barbecue has a special place in locations like Texas, the Carolinas, and Kansas City.

However, some Colorado smoke houses have been making waves in the barbecue scene. Our state has three spots that made the list of the 100 best barbecue restaurants in the United States according to Yelp. These Colorado restaurants are ranking up there with iconic spots such as Joe's Kansas City BBQ, Central BBQ in Memphis, Tennessee, and Franklin Barbeque in Austin, Texas.

The first spot on Yelp's list of best barbecue restaurants is G-Que's Competition BBQ in Westminster. Offering pork, brisket, turkey, ribs, sausage, and more, G-Que's BBQ is a place that is known for barbecue in the state of Colorado.

This barbecue restaurant has three locations in Colorado, and fans rave about the selection of smoked meats. Georgia Boys BBQ in Longmont earns its place on the list at 88.

Colorado's Best BBQ Spot is in the Mile High City

Topping the list of the best barbecue restaurants in Colorado is a spot located in Denver. Ranked at number 29 on Yelp's Top 100 barbecue restaurants in the United States for 2024, Post Oak takes home top honors.

Post Oak Barbecue is done Texas style and loved by many far and wide in Colorado. Post Oak says that they are not faking anything with 100 percent wood-fired barbecue pits using authentic post oak shipped in from Austin, Texas.
