Colorado Parks and Wildlife recently found a massive six-by-seven elk rack. Here's how CPW found the huge rack and what it means.

This rack found by CPW might be one of the biggest racks that I have ever seen. Colorado Parks and Wildlife recently found a huge elk rack on the grounds of the Air Force Academy, which is near Colorado Springs.

The bull elk passed away from natural causes, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife. The rack was recovered by CPW and is astonishingly big. You can see the rack in the picture above and below, which is a six-by-seven rack.

According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, this means that these genes have been passed on to other elk in the herd. This herd is sure to have plenty of bull with massive racks.

There are approximately 280,000 elk in Colorado, which is the largest elk population in North America, according to Colorado Encylopedia. Elk are beautiful, powerful creatures that we thoroughly enjoy seeing here in Colorado.

According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, a mature bull elk in Colorado can weigh up to 780 pounds. We wonder how much this one with the massive rack weighed -- we're guessing somewhere around there with a rack like that.
