Gwen Stefani Shares Her True Thoughts About Nick Jonas Replacing Her on ‘The Voice’
Gwen Stefani spoke out for the first time about her departure from NBC's The Voice.
The 50-year-old singer performed a special holiday concert in Burbank, CA to promote the re-release of her Christmas album, You Make It Feel Like Christmas. Stefani spoke candidly to fans and the host during the iHeartRadio event, which was held on Friday (November 8).
When asked if the "Cool" singer had any advice for Nick Jonas, who will be replacing her next season on the competition show, Stefani shared that it benefits the coaches more than people would realize.
"Get ready to be inspired. I never imagined I would be this inspired [coaching on The Voice]," Stefani told the crowd, according to Entertainment Tonight. "It'll inspire you to do more."
When the host questioned if she had a say in the Jonas Brother joining as a coach, she revealed that she did not. "No I did not. If I had a say, Nick Jonas would not be on The Voice, it would be Gwen Stefani."
Last month, Jonas announced on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that he would be replacing Stefani as a coach for season 18 of The Voice. The show has normally rotated the cast of coaches, aside from former coach Adam Levine and Stefani's boyfriend, Blake Shelton, who has coached every season of the show since its inception.
Jonas will join Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend as coaches for Season 18 while Stefani will finish her Las Vegas Just a Girl residency at Planet Hollywood through May of 2020.
