Fans Shocked After Beloved ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Character Dies
Fans of Grey’s Anatomy received some shocking news during Thursday's (April 24) episode.
Derek Shepherd played by Patrick Dempsey, one of the show’s central characters was written off the show and died in Thursday's episode.
During the episode, Derek Shepherd was helping people that were injured in a crash, which was by no means out of the character of the show, then BAM, his own car was blindsided and injuring him. Later in the show, he dies from improper diagnosis in the hospital.
According to the show's writers, this was an opportunity for Patrick Dempsey to "Pursue other interests". When Patrick spoke to Entertainment Weekly, he knew that the progression of the show was heading in this direction.
To be honest, he was the pinnacle of the show for me. I am not sure if the show will really survive after this dramatic twist.
