It must be tough being a fresh vegetable.

Sure, we all eat a certain amount of vegetables - they are a way of life. But, even for those people that would consider themselves vegetable lovers, there are veggies they hate. There's probably not a vegetable out there that isn't hated by at least one person.

I asked our Facebook followers to name a vegetable they hate. I was so glad to see that I'm not the only person in Grand Junction with some vegetable hate.

Those are just a few of the responses I received. There were many more.

If vegetables tasted like chocolate chip cookies or butter pecan ice cream, it's likely we all would eat more veggies. Unfortunately, when God planted the first vegetable garden, cookie-flavored vegetables obviously wasn't what he had in mind.

The list of veggies I hate is way longer than the list of veggies I love. In fact, the truth is, there are zero vegetables that I love. But, there is a short list of vegetables I will eat - green beans and corn, raw broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. End of list. On that note, one of the great mysteries of life is how raw broccoli with ranch dip can be so tasty, but the taste and smell of cooked broccoli are so repulsive.

At the top of my hate list is creamed corn. Who in the world ever thought that was a good idea? There's nothing that will gag me faster than a spoonful of creamed corn. Not that I've eaten any vomit lately, but that is exactly what it reminds me of. Can't do it. Won't do it. Not gonna do it!

So here's a look at some of the responses I got from my Facebook question about the vegetables people in Grand Junction hate. Beets and brussels sprouts were by far the most often-mentioned vegetable.

* Brussels Sprouts
* Beets
* Spaghetti Squash
* Turnips
* Broccoli and cauliflower
* Spinach
* Carrots
* Lima Beans
* Radishes

To all of the people who hate at least one vegetable, I thank you so sincerely. It gives me great comfort to know I am not alone.
