The rumor we have been hearing for a long time is apparently coming true.

It seems like we have been hearing about a zip line coming to Las Colonias Park in Grand Junction ever since the development of the park first began. It sounded cool and it sounded fun, but, would it ever become reality? It looks like the answer is "yes", the zip line is truly coming.

The Process Is Underway

According to the Daily Sentinel, Bonsai Design has submitted an application for the zip-line feature and is in the planning process with the city of Grand Junction. If all goes according to plan, the zip line, running from Eagle Rim Park down to Las Colonias will be operational by the end of the summer.

What Else Has Bonsai Design Built?

Bonsai Design is a local company that has built adventure courses, ropes courses, ziplines,  and programs all across the country including the California Redwoods and the Alaskan Hemlocks. Bonsai's Colorado projects include a zip line at Cave of the Winds Mountain Park, an adventure playground at  Children's Museum of Denver, a zip line at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, and numerous other projects at Vail, Breckenridge, Royal Gorge, and countless others.

Good Things At Las Colonias

The zip line at Las Colonias Park will be a great addition to all of the recent developments at the park including the beach and wading area, the ponds, dog park, and, of course, the amphitheater. The addition of River Park has been one of the most exciting developments in Grand Junction in recent years. There will be a big ribbon-cutting celebration Thursday afternoon at the park with food trucks and a river parade.

I have a feeling when the zip line opens later this year it's going to be an extremely popular western Colorado attraction for years to come, and I can hardly wait to give it a try.
