Grand Junction Volunteers Step Up To Stop Child Abuse

Mesa County Partners, The Department of Human Services, and Court Appointed Special Advocates are teaming up to help Child Abuse.

Fostering Hope is an initiative that reaches out to help kids who have suffered abuse.

Volunteers are needed, and I know that there are many of you, who would be amazing mentors to kids. It is a very rewarding feeling knowing that you have helped someone who has never had a normal life, and you are giving them that chance.

According to KKCO

This year the number of child welfare referrals was 3,393 – almost 1,000 more than the amount of child welfare referrals made in 2006.

This number is staggering. According to Blake Ammon with Mesa County Partners

"A lot of kids don't necessarily have a positive role model in their life so just to have somebody that’s in their corner to do fun stuff or help them study or anything like that is just huge,”
