Driving around Grand Junction, and dealing with traffic can be a challenge at times. But what about these speed limits we have?

As I drive around Grand Junction, I noticed the posted speed limit signs, just as every driver should. However, the difference between what the sign says, and what actually happens are two completely different things.

For example, driving down the main thoroughfare which is known to all of us as North Ave is a nightmare! Depending on what side of North you are on, the speed limit changes from 30 to 35 mph. What is concerning to me as a driver , the cars around me are either doing 40, 45, 20, or 25. What part of this says 30 mph, or even 35mph?You can be cruising along at a good pace, and someone always seems to pull out in front of you and forgets where the gas peddles is. Frustrating!

One of my favorite speed challenge areas is Highway 6 & 50. Here you can feel like you are a driver in Nascar (not a dream of mine by the way). Posted speed limit is 45, however, people seem to be in a HUGE hurry, and fly by at 50 or higher. I don't understanding this concept.

I may seem like a simple guy, but when you are driving, you want to match the number on that little white sign to the number on your speedometer. Sounds pretty simple, but apparently I am wrong. Is there a hidden or secret rule that allows you to go as fast or as slow as you want in Grand Junction?
