Going Out of Business

The retail portion of the Rocky Mountain Gun Club will host a "Going Out of Business Sale" from Tuesday, August 31 to Saturday, September 4, 2021, from the hours of noon to 6 p.m.

The Rocky Mountain Gun Club sent out the following email on Friday:

Dear Grand Junction,
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closing of the Rocky Mountain Gun Club. We have loved every moment of being your gun range. The challenges of 2020 and 2021 have led us to make the necessary decision to close. This is a heartbreaking reality for us all, ownership, staff, and the community we serve. It has been a great 7 years! To all members, those who have been with us since the beginning and those who joined recently, we thank you. Your support in our goal of increasing firearm education has truly been appreciated. There will be many details to wrap up so please read below as we will try to answer as many questions here as possible.

There Before the Store Opening

Seven years ago I was invited to attend a preview of the facility. While not a firearm aficionado, I do have an interest in the subject. I found the facility to be extraordinary, if not flat out amazing.

Great Place for the Whole Family

I signed up for a membership at the club a number of years ago. It was so enjoyable it seemed like a good idea to buy a membership for my dad. As a matter of fact, I believe it was the very last thing I ever gave him. The membership was given as a Christmas present back in 2018. By that time my dad was well into his Stage 4 Lung Cancer battle, and was already in a wheelchair. While not a gun enthusiast, he did own a number of firearms and enjoyed the opportunity to get out and shoot again.

Between Now and Closing

The email sent to members states the club will offer full reimbursement of unused membership dues as store credit or 50% as cash.

The gun club offers a wide variety of services beyond just memberships to the shooting ranges. They offer retail services, consignments, RV and boat storage, and handling of National Firearms Act items. The email sent out to members states all actions will be done by September 30, 2021.

Sad to See This Place Go

While not an enthusiast by any means, I really did enjoy my membership at the Rocky Mountain Gun Club. The facility was unbelievable, with more than enough ranges to accommodate even the busiest of times.

Personally, I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The were of great assistance when helping my dad with his physical difficulties.

I regret that in some ways I may have been part of the problem. When COVID rolled around and things began to shut down, I let my membership lapse. This had nothing to do with the business. More than anything, ammunition became difficult, and with some ammo, impossible to get a hold of. As a result I couldn't afford to exhaust my limited supply of ammo at the shooting range. Between not renewing my membership and not replenishing my supply of ammo at their retail store, I ceased spending any money with this awesome business.

Thank you to the owners, management, and staff at the Rocky Mountain Gun Club for making this facility and its services available to us these last seven years.
