HomewardBound in Grand Junction is reaching out to its community.

According to a story from KKCO TV, a Grand Junction homeless shelter may have to close its doors.

A statement from Bill Wade, who is the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for HomewardBound, reveals that the shelter is running out of money. They were at a $42,000 deficit for 2015.

Wade goes on to say that the number of people they are helping continues to soar. In the past five years, the shelter has seen a 33-percent increase in individuals and families served, while government grants have decreased by 20-percent.

The Grand Junction shelter does not receive funding from the city or even Mesa County.
