There are some Mesa County residents that are shocked to find out that we have our own SWAT Team here in Grand Junction, but they do much more than just apprehend suspects. They also work to make a positive impact in our community like this weekend they are hosting a toy drive to benefit Toys for Tots.

While there is so much to fight and argue about in 2020, we can all agree that seeing a kid light up at Christmas time because they got a new toy is exactly what we would all love to see as we wrap up this crazy year. And without this toy drive being put on by out local law enforcement officers there are many kids that would go without this Christmas.

So, if you want to help out it's very simple to take action this weekend. The Grand Junction Police Department SWAT Toy Drive event will take place on Saturday (December 5th) going from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. located at the Target store in Grand Junction at 2424 Highway 6 & 50 Suite C. They are accepting new and unwrapped toys.

The goal for the event is to fill their Bearcat vehicle full of toy donations which would help hundreds of kids in Western Colorado.

This is not anything that our SWAT Team has to do, this is out of the kindness of their hearts. If you want to know more about the Toy Drive going on this weekend click here to visit their event page on social media.
