[Update 6/30 @ 5:00 p.m. We are finding out that according to Mesa County Public Health we have a variance that allows our bars to stay open. You can read the full report here.

The details are just being reported by CBS 4 Denver but Governor Jared Polis just announced that all bars will be closed for in-person service to fight the coronavirus numbers in the state of Colorado. Bars will be able to continue selling take-out alcohol, and the ones that sell food can continue to do so if patrons remain 6 feet apart. Those customers will need to stay seated at their own table and cannot mingle with others.

Bars and nightclubs in Colorado were able to reopen two weeks ago with social distancing limitations in place. But with states surrounding Colorado seeing an uptick in COVID-19 numbers, our Governor is making this change in hopes that our numbers don't rise.

It seems like large gatherings across the country are a big reason why the numbers for this pandemic continue to rise. So, in addition to closing the bars and nightclubs, our Governor is warning all residents about having any large gatherings for the upcoming 4th of July holiday.

In Colorado, in the last two weeks, our Governor is saying there have been 32,717 cases of COVID-19.
