Colorado Governor Jared Polis announced clemency and pardons for eight individuals earlier this week.

Commutations were granted to Erik Jensen, William Hoover Jr., and Abron Arrington.

Pardons were granted to Eric Edelstein, John Furniss, Brandon Burke, Jamie Matthews, and Ingrid Encalada LaTorre.

Clemency came to a couple high profile cases.

Jensen was previously convicted of murder when he was 17 years old and sentenced to life without parole. Polis commuted his sentence to 25 years.

Jensen has since earned a college degree, worked as an administrator custodian, co-founded a faith-based counseling program to help inmates and founded the Redemption Road CrossFit Addition Recovery Program.

LaTorre made headlines two years ago when seeking sanctuary from a deportation order for possessing falsified or stolen identification. She has since completed her probation and paid restitution/back taxes.
