‘Nice Guys’ Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe Go to Therapy

Warner Bros. has taken a pretty clever approach to marketing The Nice Guys, Shane Black's new dark comedy noir starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe as a mismatched pair of investigators. In keeping with that idea, these new video shorts feature Gosling and Crowe playing fictional versions of themselves, forced to attend couples therapy to work out their issues so they can more amicably promote the film together.

The first video (above) teases the entire series of short webisodes, and you can watch first two installments below. In the first, Gosling and Crowe explain their conflict to a therapist, each playing heightened versions of themselves based on public perception — Gosling is cocky, smooth-talking and a bit of a narcissist, while Crowe is arrogant, dismissive and a bit brutish. WB is planning an entire series of videos leading up the release of The Nice Guys, and I really can't wait until we get to the episode with all of Gosling's cutesy merch.

Here's the official synopsis for the film:

‘The Nice Guys’ takes place in 1970s Los Angeles, when down-on-his-luck private eye Holland March (Gosling) and hired enforcer Jackson Healy (Crowe) must work together to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star. During their investigation, they uncover a shocking conspiracy that reaches up to the highest circles of power.

The Nice Guys also stars Kim Basinger, Matt Bomer and Margaret Qualley, and hits theaters on May 20.
