Gaming Systems Not Just For Gaming Anymore

I was watching my roommate the other day.  He was on his computer playing World of Warcraft.  His fingers were going so fast that I couldn't keep up. Interestingly enough, he sounded like he was having a conversation with himself. I asked him what he was doing.  He said he was having a conversation with his sister in Oklahoma at the same time, and that got me thinking.  What uses do we use these gaming stations have besides playing games?
