Fort Collins Man Arrested for Possession of Explosive Devices
A man named Dice has been arrested, with the help of Kanasa authorities, for possessing several explosive devices including a molotov cocktail.
What uses did Nicholas Robert Dice, 34, may have had planned for his explosives are not yet known, but we do know that they won't be put to use, thanks to the diligent work of the Larimer County Sheriff's Office (LCSO.)
It started in May of 2021 when Dice was pulled over in Loveland and arrested on an outstanding warrant. In his vehicle at that time, Dice had methamphetamine, a stolen handgun, many other weapons and knives, and a chemical agent riot grenade.
LCSO was contacted in June of 2021, by the Kansas Department of Alcohol and Firearms to inform them that Dice had been arrested in Kansas in August of 2020, after an explosive device he was working on in his basement exploded.
After receiving the information from Kansas authorities, LSCO launched a deeper investigation into Dice which lead to them obtaining a search warrant for his residence in northeast Fort Collins (100 Block of Meadow Lane) near Terry Lake.
The search warrant was executed by the regional S.W.A.T & Hostage Negotiations team (Larimer County All Hazards/Crisis Team) on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. Once that team had cleared the home of hazards, more authorities entered the residence:
- LCSO Investigators
- Northern Colorado Bomb Squad
- FBI
- ATF
What they found:
- Three improvised explosive devices
- Molotov cocktail
- Other weapons/firearms
Dice was booked into Larimer County Jail on the following charges:
- Violation of Bond Conditions – Felony 6
- Possession of Explosive Device (3 Counts) – Felony 4
- Possession of Incendiary Device – Felony 4
Hopefully, investigators will find out what Dice had planned with his stash.
Nice work, by all involved.
The charges against Dice are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.
