Halloween tunes would not be the first thing you think of  if some one were to mention holiday favorites. But, I wanted to share five classic Halloween themed song with you. The fact is, there are quite a few songs that seem to get highlighted this time of year, even though they or may not have originally been intended for Halloween. Since this is Halloween week, I thought it would be appropriate to share five classic Halloween songs.

1) MONSTER MASH  by Bobby 'Boris' Pickett and the Crypt-kickers
This is perhaps the most popular Halloween song known to mankind, first hitting the charts in 1962 and skyrocketing all the way to #1. It would re-emerge on the Billboard charts in the 70s and is an absolute Halloween favorite.

2) PURPLE EATER by Sheb Wooley
This takes us all the way back to 1958, and a song that has become a Halloween classic.

3)  WITCH DOCTOR  by  David Seville & the Chipmunks
It's funny that a song that is actually a goofy love song has turned into a Halloween classic. This is  another one that takes us back to 1958 - and has stood the test of time. See if you can get the ooh ooh's, and the ah ah's in the right place.

4) WEREWOLVES OF LONDON by Warren Zevon
A top 40 hit in 1978 that  in a silly sort of way certainly projects the "scary"  idea of werewolves. It would be Zevon's  only top 40 hit, but we do enjoy it every Halloween, and on occasion  throughout the year.

5) THRILLER  by  Michael Jackson
If ever there was a classic Halloween-themed song and video it's 'Thriller.'  It was named the most influential  pop music video of all-time.

"It was a delicate thing to work on because I remember my original approach was, 'How do you make zombies and monsters dance without it being comical?"

- Michael Jackson

Here's the full length video  for you to enjoy.
