Don't panic: Ellie Goulding is, indeed, taking some time away from music, but she's not stepping away from the stage or studio forever.

In an interview with The Sun, Goulding, who's touring around her latest LP Delirium, said she plans to take a year-long break from music after her series of shows wraps up in October in Australia. A combustion of jet lag, long hours and a recent heartache (she and boyfriend Dougie Poynter just ended a two-year relationship) call for some very deserved R&R, she noted, and she hasn't had a break in seven years.

"People think I’m invincible but these past few weeks have been tough," she told the site. "When you’re in the public eye, it seems like you’re able to deal with stuff better than anyone else, which is not remotely true...Having a break will be a good thing for me and my head."

Goulding said that as recently as last year, she and Poynter discussed getting married and having children, but that entertainment careers pulled them in different directions. Now, she says, fans around the world are sparing her from dark thoughts and the temptation to spend days exclusively mourning her breakup.

"If I wasn’t on tour it would have been a great deal harder," she said. "I would be by myself, overthinking and wallowing. I have been trying to take my mind off it by watching things and reading. It’s the only thing I can do."
