There is a great opportunity this weekend to score some awesome works of art at Grand Junction's Native American Arts Auction.

The auction is being held at the Grand Vista Hotel on Crossroads Blvd. in Grand Junction.

An auction preview will be held on Saturday, April 9 from 10AM-NOON  with the live auction beginning at 1:00PM. The auction will feature over 200 Native American art pieces including rugs, baskets and jewelry. The auction items come from throughout the Southwest region and have been gathered and researched by the Burnham Trading Post experts.

Other Native American artist vendors will be on site during the auction. Sponsored by Native American Cultural Programs of Montrose, the artists and traders will have a variety of items for sale including carved wood items and jewelry. You can learn about the history and techniques behind their art as well as events and programs sponsored by NACP.

On Friday evening, there is an appraisal clinic which has completely filled up, but there will be a presentation at 6:30 by Navajo Trader Bruce Burnham,who has been a trader to the Navajo for over 40 years

There is no entry fee and no bidder fee, but there is a 10% buyer's premium.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Museums of Western Colorado.
