Does starting school just one hour later, help a student learn better. The Grand Junction school district is deciding just that.

KKCO reports that the District 51 School District is talking about moving the start time of school from 7:30 am to 8:30 am.

According to a study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, starting school at a later time would improve an adolescents health academic performance and quality of life. However, this could cause the school some headaches as well.

Shane Anderson from Student Transportation of America says that:

"A lot of those routes are combined routes where we currently transport middle and high school on the same routes,” “When you break that apart that effects 71 routes. So in a nutshell, the big picture in its infancy stage shows up to 42 buses may be affected or need to be added.”

The students however as a majority were happy about the thought of getting to class later. Some students say that waking up in class is not the best thing to do. Others say that they have a hard enough time just getting to class on time, and changing the time would definitely help.
