Whew! What a week. I took my 8-year-old daughter to Disneyland for her birthday. After breakfast with the Princesses, lines that went on for hours, and a big dent in my pocketbook, we are home safely! I forgot to mention, many happy tears from mommy and the discovery my Katie made: She's an adrenaline junkie! (Be still, my worried heart!)

I must admit, I'm relieved to be in our happy little town. I walked in to Traders and grabbed coffee without having to wait 45 minutes! Woo! So, what's up this weekend? Well, after a few festival weekends, we find ourselves faced with fall. That doesn't mean we've run out of things to do, however.

Here's something I'm excited about; fun with the fam, for a great cause! Let's check out the MDS Rollin' On the River 5k at the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens. It will be held on Saturday, October 20th. This is a VERY kid friendly event, that benefits children with disabilities. After the 5k, the kiddos can enjoy a magician, face painting, bubble station, sidewalk chalk art, Western Colorado Center for the arts craft area, live music, AND, they get lunch and a t-shirt, too. What a wonderful opportunity to share the joy of giving to the community with our children.

If you happen to be out and about with friends or your significant other, come out to Rockestra on Saturday night! These concerts are pretty amazing. Picture it: your favorite rock tunes, played by a 35 piece orchestra! There is only one other show in the world that brags this live, rock event! I know, I'm partial because I'm one of the singers, but you guys have to experience this. It's a blast. The show will be held upstairs in the University Center Ballroom at CMU, starting at 8pm. To purchase your tickets, visit the Grand Junction Symphony website.

There's my advice for the weekend! Next week? Wine review!
