Diplo Calls His Feud With Taylor Swift the ‘Worst Decision of My Career’
Diplo opened up about his past feud with Taylor Swift and why it made him look like "an ---hole"
In a new interview with the Evening Standard's ES Magazine, the DJ admitted he regrets everything he's said about Swift, calling his comments and behavior "the worst decision of my career."
“I’m a weird, humorous person, but my sense of humor wasn’t taken well,” he explained. “Then I thought, do I want to be known as the a--hole?... I wasn’t an a--hole, in my opinion, but I did use social media like it was a joke. Then it became very real. What’s funny now is that I don’t even know my Twitter login. Someone else just Twitters for me.”
Diplo's beef with the pop star all started in November 2014 after he posted an inappropriate comment about her body on Twitter. "Someone should make a kickstarter to get taylor swift a booty." he wrote.
At the time, he was dating Katy Perry, which made his remarks even worse because of the women's own ongoing feud. He then added fuel to the fire by calling her fans "the worst people in the world." However, the two seemed to have put their differences aside when they posed together at a 2015 Grammys after-party.
Unfortunately, their reconciliation didn't last long because, in a 2017 interview with Rolling Stone, he dissed the "You Need to Calm Down" singer's music, claiming kids can't relate to her songs.
"Music is in the hands of the kids. Streaming is literally what kids want to listen to over and over again. They want to listen to [Post Malone's] 'Rockstar' and [Cardi B's] 'Bodak Yellow,'" he told the magazine. "They don’t want to listen to, like, [Swift's] 'Look What You Made Me Do."
Of course, he was referring to her revenge track off her 2017 Reputation album.
"That music doesn’t relate to them at all, I don’t think it ever did. They were only given that by radio and marketing budgets," he added. "I’m impressed with Post Malone. I can relate to him more than Taylor Swift."
Diplo's comments obviously did not sit well with Swifties who later bombarded his Instagram with snake emojis which resulted in him telling them to "calm down." Not the smartest move on his part.
But thankfully, all this is in the past and hopefully, their feud will never be reignited again...
