Delta’s Deltarado Days Has Been Canceled
Another Western Colorado community festival has received the ax for 2020.
The annual Deltarado Days celebration in Delta has officially been canceled.
While it may not come as a huge surprise, there was a measure of optimism the festival would still be held, considering the low number of COVID-19 cases being reported in Delta County. Optimism may have been further fueled by the successful public fireworks display held in Delta on the 4th of July. However, according to the Delta County Independent, it has been determined that there are too many health restrictions and regulations to make it feasible to hold the event.
While the Delta County Health Department gave some permissions, many restrictions have remained in place that make it difficult, if not impossible to hold the event and stay in compliance with local health guidelines.
Deltarado Days always features a number of fun family events including a car show, rodeo, parade, street dance, and is traditionally one of the biggest events of the year for the community of Delta.
I have been privileged to be a part of the annual car show at Deltarado Days for 15 or 16 years and it's always been one of the highlights of my summer. There is something very cool about a small-town celebration when people come together to celebrate their community. I know this is disappointing news for everyone connected with the festival as well as everyone who makes Deltarado Days an annual part of their summer activities.
We'll definitely be looking forward to next year, and we may not have to wait until then. It's possible the city of Delta will hold some sort of event on a smaller scale later in the year. It won't be quite the same, but it's better than nothing.
